In his Letter to the Romans, Paul says that knowledge of God is ‘plain to them, because God has shown it to them’, even if some choose to ignore it. Furthermore, Calvin’s reference to Acts 17:28 (in the opening passage) is a classic Bible passage in support of natural theology where Paul argues that we all know of God unconsciously because God sustains all natural processes and enables us to live and thrive. However, Calvin’s position is not one which wholly endorses Cicero or Paul. Universal belief or experience of God does not demonstrate his existence.
